My Lovely Pet "Ciou Ciou"

I had kept many pets, especially hamsters. Since I was 10 years old, I had been keeping about 10 hamsters. Although they had short lives, I would not forget how much I loved each of them. From birth to death, I experienced a lot of sorrow and joy.

This picture was taken by me. I called my pet “Ciou Ciou”, and she was three months old at that time. The difference between other hamsters was that I did not buy her in the pet store. It was my brother that brought her home one day. I was surprised and excited to see this cute girl. She was only one month old when she came to my home. I cannot even hold her in my hand because she was too small.

Everything went smoothly until one day she got sick. Ciou was about two years old at that time. One day morning, I found that she was not as active as before. She lay on her bed and had a bad appetite. I thought that maybe she just felt tired and needed more break. But everything got worse and worse. She became weaker and thinner. After I took her to the veterinarian, she was diagnosed with cancer. I could not accept that at first, however, I eventually chose to face it and to take care of her life because she was my responsibility.

Although Ciou finally passed away, I would remember her forever. She let me learn that how to take care of a hamster more carefully, and that she was not only a mouse but one of my family. I finally realized that keeping a pet was not easy, because pets were not equal to animals. Not just feeding but taking care of them was necessary. The difference between pets and animals was “love”. I loved Ciou Ciou, and I did not regret keeping her to be my pet.
